André Gide (born November 22, 1869, died February 19, 1951) was a French novelist, writer, journalist, film producer, playwright, and author. Born in Paris, he was a French citizen and also died in Paris. Gide received his education at Lycée Henri-IV.
He was the founder of the Nouvelle Revue Française and wrote in various genres, including prose, dramaturgy, and novels(36287428)]. Some of his most notable works include The Immoralist, La Symphonie pastorale, Corydon (book), Si le grain ne meurt, The Counterfeiters, Strait Is the Gate, The Fruits of the Earth, and Travels in the Congo.
Gide was awarded the 1947 Nobel Prize in Literature for his achievements. He was also known by the alias André Paul Guillaume Gide.
