Automobile manufacturer
At the end of 2013, the enterprise and its site in Izhevsk produced 516.3 thousand vehicles. In this period, the plant showed a decline in sales and production. According to experts, “the general economic situation in the country and pessimistic macroeconomic forecasts did not contribute to sales. This limited the desire of potential buyers to purchase expensive goods. The total number of cars sold in Russia during this period is 456.3 thousand cars, including exports - 534.9 thousand Lada cars. In the same year, AvtoVAZ continued to modernize its facilities and update its model range, launching a new generation of Lada Kalina cars.
In 2014, AvtoVAZ produced 575.1 thousand vehicles and assembly kits. Sales of Lada cars amounted to 439.1 thousand units. Over the entire history of the plant, more than 28,000,000 vehicles have been produced. About 57% of the Russian car fleet are VAZ cars.
In 2015, AvtoVAZ showed a negative gross margin in its IFRS financial statements. Analysts point to the rise in the cost of components and the devaluation of the ruble as the reasons for the company's unprofitability. Impairment losses and restructuring costs amounted to RUB 42 billion. in 2015 against 4.7 billion rubles. in 2014. Net loss amounted to 73.9 billion rubles. against 25 billion rubles. loss in 2014.
In 2018, net profit amounted to +5.86 billion rubles. against a loss in 2017, total revenue +283.1 billion rubles.
Since 2011, after the acquisition of OAG LLC, AvtoVAZ began to take into account the products of the Izhevsk Automobile Plant, which became a subsidiary of the company, in its production indicators. This year, both enterprises produced 593.3 thousand cars. Compared to last year, the plant's sales increased by 10.6% - up to 578.3 thousand cars (taking into account exports - up to 634.3 thousand cars). In the same year, AvtoVAZ prepared production and began production of a new model, the Lada Granta sedan.
In 2012, AvtoVAZ and the Izhevsk Automobile Plant produced 587.6 thousand vehicles. According to experts, the reduction in the production of Lada cars was quite natural and expected, and is primarily due to the fact that the company was changing the model range. Also, the decline was partly due to the termination of government support programs, in particular, the car recycling program. Sales on the Russian market this year amounted to 537.6 thousand cars, and taking into account exports, 608.2 thousand. In April 2012, AvtoVAZ began production of Lada Largus station wagons - cars created on the B0 platform provided by the Renault-Nissan Alliance.

In Russia, 517.1 thousand Lada cars were sold (and taking into account exports - 557.8 thousand cars). Compared to 2009, sales of Lada in Russia increased by 48%. This growth was facilitated by the state program for the recycling of retired vehicles. Owners of old cars actively handed them over for recycling, receiving a discount on the purchase of a new car. The best-selling models this year were Lada 2105 and Lada 2107: 136 thousand cars. The second indicator turned out to be Lada Priora - 125.5 thousand cars. In January 2019, Alliance Rostec Auto B.V. - a joint venture of the Renault-Nissan alliance (68%) and the Rostec state corporation (32%) - increased its stake in AvtoVAZ to 100% and became the sole shareholder of the automaker. After that, AvtoVAZ filed an application to exclude shares from the Moscow Exchange.
In December 2021, 100% of AvtoVAZ shares were transferred to a new joint company, Lada Auto Holding, which has its registered office in Moscow. The distribution of shares in the joint venture has not changed: Rostec has 32.3%, Renault has 66.7%.
Lada Auto Holding LLC was registered in Moscow in September 2021. The authorized capital of the company is 16.472 billion rubles. Andrey Shpak is the general director of the joint venture.
In 2007, sales of the Lada 2170 car began in the near abroad (the Lada Priora is still being exported under this factory index). At the same time, AvtoVAZ celebrated the anniversary of its foreign trade activities - the 7 millionth export car was shipped, which was the Lada 1118 (Lada Kalina sedan).
Starting from 2010, the geography of deliveries of Lada cars covers the CIS countries (more than 90%) and Europe (3-5%), as well as a number of countries in Africa and Latin America (no more than 1.5-2%). The sale of Lada cars abroad is organized through the official dealer networks of AvtoVAZ importers. Lada is sold by about 20 official importers, who cooperate with a total of more than 200 local dealers. Among the CIS countries, the most capacious market was initially Ukraine, where both finished cars and car kits were supplied. Since the beginning of the introduction of a number of restrictive customs duties by this country, and then the economic and socio-political crisis that has formed here has sharply reduced the supply of cars of almost all brands that were previously sold in Ukraine.
At the beginning of the second half of 2014, the most capacious export market for Lada cars is Kazakhstan. Azerbaijan, Belarus, European countries, Egypt are considered to be deferred and promising markets.
On February 8, 2019, AvtoVAZ made a special modification of the updated Lada Granta sedan for driving lessons, and over the past year, Lada Granta has become the most popular car in the Russian domestic market. In the first month of 2019, sales of this model increased by 44%.
Lada cars could be found in Asia, Africa, Latin America, Canada, Australia and Oceania. The front-wheel drive Lada cars of the Samara, Samara-2 families, as well as models of the “tenth” family, also managed to gain relatively high popularity.
By 1990, 25% of the car factory's production was exported, most of which was in Western Europe .
In 1995, an assembly kit center (CSK) was formed to further consolidate AvtoVAZ products, including in foreign markets. CSK was responsible for the full cycle of external assembly, including the study of potential sales regions and monitoring the implementation of production plans by car assembly plants. Three months after the creation of the center, the first deliveries of VAZ-21093 assembly kits were made to Finland to Valmet Automotive. There, during the period of the agreement (from 1996 to 1998), 14,048 cars were assembled, most of which were sold in Western Europe.
In 2000, in Ukraine, with the support of the Ukrprominvest concern, the assembly of the VAZ-21093 model was organized at the Lutsk Automobile Plant. Soon, two more Ukrainian enterprises took up the assembly of VAZ models - in Kherson and Kremenchug, and in the fourth quarter of 2001, the first Lada 2107 cars began to be assembled in Egypt. In 2002, the list of external assembly enterprises included the Kazakhstani company "Asia-Avto", which was engaged in the assembly of all-wheel drive Lada 4x4 vehicles. The end of 2003 was marked for AvtoVAZ by the opening of assembly plants in two more parts of the world. The Oferol enterprise has started production of Lada 4X4 cars in Montevideo (Uruguay), and in Ukraine AvtoZAZ has begun assembling Lada Samara cars. Soon, the assembly of Lada 4X4 cars was organized in the capital of Ecuador, the city of Quito, at the Aimesa enterprise.
Export
The export name of the car was chosen as Lada (from the word "rook" - the main element of the logo), while in the domestic market the car was sold as Zhiguli (after the name of the mountains). The first Lada cars (VAZ-2101) have been exported since 1971. Among the countries that imported Lada, there were countries from the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance (these deliveries partially covered the cost of certain types of components for the plant), and those who bought cars for hard currency.
In the early seventies, cars produced in the USSR accounted for more than 60% of all funds from the export of domestic engineering products. Soon this share increased to 80%. Demand for Lada cars was explained by relatively modern design, workmanship, reasonable pricing policy. The volume of sales in various countries to a certain extent depended on the availability of a developed network of dealers in them, as well as the availability of service stations and the necessary spare parts. The good adaptation of cars to operation in regions with a harsh climate has made them popular in the Nordic countries: Finland, Sweden, Norway, Iceland. Thus, in the taxi companies of Budapest, a large proportion of cars was Lada, and the operation of these cars in intensive mode turned out to be the most effective.
The all-wheel drive Niva, which at that time had no analogues in its segment, was very popular. At one time, the demand for the model exceeded supply and was supported by the appearance of a number of tuning versions offered by local dealers in the economically developed countries of the world. In addition to everyday use in urban areas, the Niva was widely used abroad as a vehicle for rangers, doctors, farmers, salesmen and police officers.
In the mid-1980s, foreign markets welcomed the upgraded family of rear-wheel drive models Lada 2105/2107/2104. In France at that time, every fourth imported station wagon was a Lada.
