The first written mention of Bohorodchany dates back to 1441 [2]. It says that the owner of Bohorodchany was Jan from Buchach. The inhabitants of the village have been engaged in handicrafts and farming since ancient times. Among the specialties of artisans the most common were: tailoring and weaving. This is evidenced by the names of streets that have survived to this day: Tkatska, Riznycha. In the second half of the 15th century, the Bohorodchany became the property of the Potocki nobles.In 1691, by order of Countess K. Potocka, a church was built in Bohorodchany, surrounded by a group of petty gentry and several dozen artisans from PolandPoland. The church became the center of Catholicization.

People
In 1938, the city had 1,670 Greek Catholics. In addition, a total of 795 Roman Catholics, 40 Catholicized Ukrainians and 1,931 Jews lived in Bohorodchany and the village of Skobychivka.
Bohorodchany fortress
The first plan of the fortress is found on the maps of Friedrich von Mig (1779-1783). At the time of the map, the Bohorodchany fortress consisted of four full bastions, one half-bastion, four curtains, two entrance gates, well-preserved ramparts and ditches. The half-bastion and the curtain on the site of the modern stadium were probably lost during the capture of the fortress. The market square with the town hall, the Dominican monastery, castle buildings, quarters of national communities are clearly traced on the map.
