The purpose of the program is to train experts for the priority sectors of the Kazakhstan's economy.
“Bolashaq” International Scholarship, established by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, N. Nazarbayev on November 5, 1993, is one of the most important strategic projects, initiated at the dawn of the independence of Kazakhstan, when leaders of a new format were needed, who would build up high-quality relations and communications with the international community.
In order to ensure the full process of monitoring the education and employment of the “Bolashaq” scholarship holders after the completion of their studies abroad, Centre for International Programmes, joint-stock company was established by the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan on April 4, 2005.
2020
Selection stages reduced from 6 to 3 rounds.
All quota categories abolished.
Preliminary language courses excluded, with an exception for applicants from the rural areas for up to 6 months within Kazakhstan.
An unconditional offer from a leading foreign higher education institution included in the List of recommended universities as the main requirement except for applicants from rural areas introduced Number of decision-making independent expert commission members increased from 3 to 5.

A differentiated approach for Bolashaq graduates’ working off process with a center-region scheme introduced, according to which working off period in the regions was reduced to from 5 to 3 years
