DSM is a global leader in bio-based chemical manufacturing based in Heerlen, Netherlands. It operates three core business segments in nutrition, health, and materials. Major products include vitamins, pigments, sweeteners such as Stevia, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, yeast extracts, probiotics, enzymes, the Dyneema brand of fibers, the ForTii brand of high performance polymers, and more.

DSM was founded in 1902 as a state-owned coal mining company, originally called Dutch State Mines. It pivoted to petrochemicals in the 1970's and later to bio-based chemicals, which is the core focus today.
