Éric Abidal , a French football player born September 11, 1979, in Saint-Genis-Laval, France. He is a highly decorated athlete, having received numerous awards throughout his career .
Abidal has won the Ligue 1 three times in a row from 2004 to 2007 and La Liga four times between the 2008–09 and 2012–13 seasons. His successes also include the Copa del Rey in 2008–09 and 2011–12.
Abidal has claimed the UEFA Champions League title twice, in 2008–09 and 2010–11. Other notable international titles include the FIFA Club World Cup in 2009 and 2011, as well as the UEFA Super Cup twice, in 2009 and 2011.
During his career, Abidal was recognized individually as well. He was named LFP Defender of the Year in 2011. Additionally, he was named on the Ligue 1 Team of the Year three times, from 2005 to 2007, and received the Globe Soccer Awards and the Premio internazionale Giacinto Facchetti.
