Fear of joining in.
I want to post, but I don’t know what to post. What if no one ‘likes’ it? What if no one follows/friends/connects with me? Easier not to post anything at all. Better still, I’ll just boycott social media altogether. Sound like you? Then you’ve got FOJI.
FOJI: Fear of joining in
The polar opposite to MOMO; if you suffer from FOJI, you're far less likely to keep your friends updated on Facebook and Instagram because you're not quite sure what to post and you're worried that nobody will like or comment on your photos.
In fact, you might opt out of social media altogether for fear that nobody will want to connect, follow or be 'friends' with you.
FOJI stands for Fear Of Joining In and refers to the fear of posting on social media in the worry that nobody will want to connect, follow or be friends with you. FOJI (Fear of Joining In) is often seen as the opposite of MOMO (Mystery of Missing Out).
