François Roland Truffaut (6 February 1932 – 21 October 1984) was a French film director, screenwriter, producer, actor, and film critic, known for his work in the French New Wave movement. Born in Paris and holding French citizenship, Truffaut directed a wide variety of films throughout his career, including The 400 Blows, Shoot the Piano Player, Jules and Jim, The Wild Child, and The Last Metro.
In addition to his work as a filmmaker, Truffaut was also an actor and writer, with notable roles in films such as Close Encounters of the Third Kind and The Little Thief. Throughout his life, he received numerous awards for his work in the film industry, including accolades from the New York Film Critics Circle Awards, National Society of Film Critics Awards, National Board of Review, and Cannes Film Festival.
François Truffaut passed away in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France.
