Gismeteo website was created as a platform for advertising the services of its owner, the Russian company Map Maker and as a project to inform the population about the weather.

The monthly audience of Gismeteo, according to TNS, is 14 million unique users.

The site provides information about the weather in different cities around the world. In addition to temperature forecasts, there is information for the following parameters:

wind speed, wind direction;

probability, type of precipitation;

pressure;

humidity;

length of day;

magnetic storms

there is also a radar service for precipitation and thunderstorms.

The site provides an API for professional meteorologists. The owner of the resource is the company "Map Maker". The company's founders, Yuri Shmelkin and Alexei Solomin, are former employees of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center (Rosgidromet)
