SKIF is the first professional women's hockey club in Russia from Nizhny Novgorod.
Story
Sports Club SKIF was founded in 1997. The SKIF women's hockey team was established in 2000 and is the successor of the women's hockey clubs CSK VVS, Luzhniki, Viking, which, changing their name, became champions of Russia four times from 1995 to 2000. Team colors are orange and blue.
Achievements
SKIF is the champion of Russia in ice hockey among women's teams in the seasons 2000/2001, 2001/2002, 2002/2003, 2003/2004, 2004/2005, 2007/2008, 2009/2010 and 2013/2014, silver medalist of the Russian championship in the seasons 2005/2006, 2006/2007, 2008/2009, 2010/2011, 2011/2012, 2012/2013, 2014/2015 and 2020/2021, bronze medalist of the WHL championship 2017/2018, 2018/2019 and 2021 years.
In the 2008/2009 season, for the first time in the history of Russian women's hockey, the SKIF team won the European Champions Cup. In the 2004/2005 and 2010/2011 seasons, the team became silver, and in the 2005/2006 season, the bronze medalist of the main European club tournament among women's teams. The second golden success in the European Cup came to SKIF in the 2014/2015 sports season, after which the IIHF announced the closure of the tournament due to financial difficulties.
SKIF is the base team of the women's national teams of Russia. For many years, the players of the SKIF women's hockey team have been part of the national and youth teams of Russia.
