Ivan Rakitić (born March 10, 1988, Rheinfelden, Switzerland) is a Croatian footballer who plays as a midfielder for the Spanish football club Sevilla. Vice World Champion 2018.
A pupil of the football academy of the Basel club, he made his debut in the first team in 2005. After spending two seasons at the heart of the Swiss club, in the summer of 2007 he moved to the German Schalke 04, for which he played 97 matches and scored 12 goals. In the winter transfer window of the 2010/11 season, he moved to the Spanish Sevilla, with whom he won his first European trophy, the Europa League. For 3.5 years in the team, Rakitic played 117 matches and scored 27 goals, becoming the captain and leader of the club. In June 2014, he became a Barcelona player. In September 2020, after 6 years spent at the Catalan club, he returned to Sevilla.
