Ivo Andrić

Ivo Andrić was born on October 9, 1892, in Dolac, Travnik and died on March 13, 1975, in Belgrade . Andrić was a writer , novelist , diplomat , and poet from Bosnia and Herzegovina . Throughout his life, he had citizenship in several countries, including Austria-Hungary , the State of Slovenes, Croats and Serbs , the Kingdom of Yugoslavia , and the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia .

Andrić studied at several universities, including the University of Graz , the University of Vienna , and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Zagreb . His body of work mainly consists of poetry . One of his most notable works is "The Bridge on the Drina" . He was awarded the 1961 Nobel Prize in Literature .
