Linklaters

Linklaters is an international law firm focusing on the practice areas of information management and data protection. There are currently over 5,400 staff members, more than 2,500 lawyers, 530 partners and 30 offices in 20 countriescountries.The firm was founded in 1838 by John Linklater after partnering with Julius Dods from the London firm of solicitors, Dods & Linklaters. On May 4, 1920, the firm merged with Paine, Blyth & Huxtable to create Linklaters & Paines.

The firm is headquartered in London, United Kingdom. Linklaters opened offices in Milan (1962), New York (1972), Brussels (1972), Moscow (1992), São Paulo (1997), Bangkok (1998), Shanghai (1998) and Madrid (1999).

In 1998, Linklaters & Paines formed Linklaters Alliance with four other leading law firms and by 2002, they merged with De Bandt, van Hecke, Lagae & Loesch, Lagerlöf & Leman and Oppenhoff & Rädler, rebranding to just Linklaters. Since the turn of the century, the firm has continued opening offices in Beijing (2002), Lisbon (2002), Dubai (2006), Düsseldorf (2007) and Abu Dhabi (2011).

In 2021, Linklaters was named fourth on the Global Elite Law Firm Brand Index, moving up four spots from the previous year.
