Louis I, Duke of Orléans (born 13 3 1372 in Paris ) held several titles throughout his life, including Count of Valois, Duke of Angoulême, Duke of Touraine, Count of Blois, Duke of Périgord, and Duke of Soissons. He was a French national and he held French citizenship. Louis I was the son of Charles V of France and Joanna of Bourbon.
He married Valentina Visconti, who was the Queen of Cyprus. Louis I was the father of several children, including Charles (Duke of Orléans), John (Count of Angoulême), Jean de Dunois, Margaret (Countess of Vertus), and Philip (Count of Vertus).
Throughout his life, Louis I took on various occupations including being a count, military personnel, politician, and duke. He was also the founder and owner of the Château de Pierrefonds.
Louis I, Duke of Orléans, died on 23 11 1407 in Paris.
