Maus Frères is a large joint-stock company that owns the Manor AG retail chain (Switzerland) and the Lacoste fashion house.
History
In 1902, the Genevan entrepreneurs brothers Ernest and Henri Maus opened their first retail store in the heart of the Swiss plateau - in the town of Lucerne. Their main partner, Leon Normann, was appointed director of the department store. The initial letters of the surnames formed the logo of the Ma...Nor AG joint-stock company. The retail network soon expanded beyond Swiss borders. In September 2000, the last rebranding of the company was carried out.
In May 2008, the firm acquired the international brand Gant. Since November 2012, the firm has also held a majority stake in Lacoste.
By the summer of 2019, the joint-stock company has 58 large shopping centers in various European cities with a total turnover of 3 billion Swiss francs. The company is managed by a directorate located in Basel (near the border with Germany and France).
Other holdings of the joint-stock company include Manora restaurants (jointly operated with the French group Carrefour), sporting goods stores Athleticum (jointly operated with the French firm Decathlon), building materials stores Jumbo.
