MegaCryptoPolis — is the decentralized city builder strategy game running in the form of a dApp (decentralized application) on multiply blockchains. Every action in the game is a transaction signed by a player and accomplished by the smart contract.
MegaCryptoPolis is using Matic Network sidechain as a scalability solution for Ethereum gaming map to eliminate gas fees and make transactions instant. Every action in the MegaCryptoPolis is a verified transaction confirmed by the smart contract on a blockchain. Ethereum network requires a Gas fee paid in ETH as a reward for miner to include the information in a block. Matic Network is the layer 2 PoS based sidechain that allows to reduce fees and uses Matic token to operate.
MegaCryptoPolis covers all the fees on the sidechain, so players do not need a token to make transactions on Matic Network. MegaCryptoPolis migrated to Matic Network on Dec 10, 2020. Citizens, Pets,Appliances, Cars and Resource tokens were moved to Matic. Districts and Land Plotsleft on Ethereum network.
Most in-game actions (being the most gas consuming) are now performed on Matic Network. However, some operations are still managed on Ethereum Network thus requiring gas fees.
Operations on Matic Network are performed using funds from the in-game balance (not user's Ethereum wallet).
Operations on Ethereum Network are performed using funds from a player's wallet (not in-game balance).
Player's in-game balance accumulates funds from all the in-game operations like:
Funds could be deposited or withdrawn from the in-game balance to a player's Ethereum wallet at any moment. This operation may require a gas fee on Ethereum network.
The original concept described in MegaCryptoPolis White Book was successfully implemented in the first version of the decentralized city builder game to form the so-called “Macroeconomy” layer. MegaCryptoPolis 3D Draft Paper introduced (besides significant visual improvements), a whole new gameplay model to be built on top of existing assets ― what we prefer to call a “Microeconomy” concept.
Macroeconomy ― an underlying layer of immutable assets (districts, land plots and buildings) as the core of MegaCryptoPolis gameplay to be used for implementation of the new concepts on top of it.
Microeconomy ― new layer of operations with collectible assets (like Citizens, Pets and Appliances) to enrich macroeconomy assets and bring more depth to the gameplay. There is no actual division between Macro and Micro economy logic in the game; however it is important to understand the difference as only the Microeconomy assets are interoperable (can be transferred between different blockchains). Some Microeconomy assets can be produced on the Macroeconomy layer (Appliances, Resources and Citizens), some others are unique and will be distributed only during special events (like Pets).
MegaCryptoPolis initially launched on the Ethereum blockchain, with the MCP3D and Microeconomy concept declared the decentralized city expansion on to new blockchains. Each blockchain will have it’s own Macroeconomy with dedicated Funds and new territories to be appended to the global gaming map. That will allow for a wider adoption, faster operations, less fees and a more diversified gameplay. No new land plots will be created on the existing gaming map (built on Ethereum blockchain). All the Microeconomy assets (Citizens, Pets, Cars, Appliances, even Resources and some Materials) are interoperable and will be freely transferred between different blockchains. That means one will be able to send Bricks produced on Ethereum part of the gaming map to use them for construction of a building on another network. That will involve Airports implying their fees with benefits for originating blockchain in terms of taxes as commissions for the Funds. Each blockchain will have its own Global Fund that is accounted in the blockchain’s native cryptocurrency. All the game assets (including land plots, districts and all Microeconomy items) are be traded on the internal marketplace using the native blockchain cryptocurrency. There is no limit on a number of accounts a player may have on different blockchains. Moreover, there will be a feature to unite them under the same profile and that may become a part of a strategy to distribute assets and production among different networks to maximize results.
