New Culture is a food and beverage company using cellular agriculture to make cow cheese that is headquartered in san Francisco, California and was founded in 2018 by Inja Radman and Matt Gibson. The company is using cellular agriculture techniques to make cow cheese products that are lactose free and animal free by creating casein micelles through fermentation.
On September 10, 2019 New Culture completed their seed funding round with $3.5 million in funding from Evolv Ventures (lead investor), Bee Partners, Mayfield, CPT Capital, Boost VC and SOSV. New Culture is planning on using their seed funding to set up a research and development and fermentation facility, and hire more employees. The co-founder and CEO of New Culture, Matt Gibson, made the following statement regarding the companies seed funding round:
It’s fantastic to have the support of our investors as we look to grow the company and scale New Culture’s unique fermentation technology. We want to disrupt one of the oldest and largest food industries in the world by producing a better dairy cheese for anyone to enjoy - whether you’re a cheese lover, lactose-intolerant, vegan, environmentally conscious or health-conscious. The capital, knowledge and network our investors bring to New Culture enables us to begin doing that.
