Panthéon-Assas University, also known as Paris 2, Paris II, and Université Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas, is a public educational institute located in Paris, France. Established in 1971, the university is accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation of France.
The university has its roots dating back to the 12th century, with a previous name of Consultissima decretorum until 1679. It then changed its name to Faculté de droit civil et canonique until 1793, and Faculté de droit de Paris from 1802 to the 1950s. The institution was known as Faculté de droit et d’économie de Paris from the 1950s to 1970 and Université de droit, d’économie et de sciences sociales de Paris from 1971 to 1990. The university adopted its current name, Université Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas, in 1990.
