The Podlesno-Tavlinskaya Experimental Children's Art School operates in the village, where to this day future keepers of Mordovian culture are being trained from an early age. The school has been producing dynasties of wood carving craftsmen since its foundation. There is also a school museum, which exhibits both toys and musical instruments made here. If you are very lucky or if you take care of it in advance, there is a chance to get to the festival of landscape sculpture based on the epics of the Finno-Ugric peoples "Rasken oyme" ("People's Soul"), which takes place in Podlesnaya Tavla. In order to revive the Erzya national culture, preserve and develop folk, artistic and spiritual traditions, the Union of Masters - "Ermez" was created. The carvers borrowed the name for their organization from the Erzya epic poem, in which the main character of the work is a jack of all trades, transferring his knowledge and skills to his students.
