Prosper Mérimée

Prosper Mérimée (1803–1870) was a French anthropologist, historian, politician, writer, novelist, playwright, painter, and translator. He was born in Paris and educated at Lycée Henri-IV. Mérimée passed away in Cannes.

He was known for using pseudonyms like Clara Gazul, Hyacinthe Maglanovich, Joseph Lestrange, and L' Auteur du Théâtre de Clara Gazul. Prosper Mérimée's notable works include "Carmen" (novella), "La Vénus d'Ille", and "Mateo Falcone".

Mérimée was also the author of "La Guzla", "Colomba" (novella), and "Lokis". He made significant contributions in the fields of literature, book, authorship, and writing.
