Sofía Vergara, born Sofía Margarita Vergara Vergara on July 10, 1972, is a Colombian-American actress, model, and businessperson. She was born in Barranquilla, Colombia and is a citizen of both Colombia and the United States. She was educated at Marymount International School Barranquilla and later at Columbia University.
Vergara is known for her acting roles, most notably in the popular television show Modern Family. In addition to acting, her occupations include being a television presenter, television producer, and model. She is also the founder of Latin World Entertainment.
Throughout her career, Sofía Vergara has received numerous awards, such as Screen Actors Guild Awards, NAACP Image Award, Glamour Awards, and People's Choice Awards. She has worked in both the film and modelling industries.
Sofía is the daughter of Margherita Vergara Davila De Vergara and Julio Enrique Vergara Robio and the mother of Manolo Gonzalez Vergara. She is married to actor Joe Manganiello.
