Tyson Ngo, better known as Tenz on social media, is a Canadian professional gamer known for playing and streaming Valorant. The gamer first started out playing Counter-Strikeike: Global Offensive. The streamer quickly rose through the ranks with CS:GO and signed with Cloud9 in 2019 to play the game professionally.

In April 2020, Tenz announced that he would be switching from Counter-Strike to Valorant to play competitively with Cloud9. In early 2021, Tenz announced he would be stepping down from Cloud9’s Valorant team for an indefinite period of time and focusing on content creation instead.

As of September 2021, Tenz has more than 1.8 million followers on Twitch, 1.03 million subscribers on YouTube, 549,000 followers on Instagram, 614,800 followers on TikTok, and 128,000 followers on Twitter.

Tenz first started streaming content on his Twitch channel in November 2015. Since starting his Twitch account, Tenz has acquired more than 750,000 followers on his channel.

The gamer first started out playing CouCounter-Strikenter Strike: Global Offensive. The streamer quickly rose through the ranks with CS:GO and signed with Cloud9 in 2019 to play the game professionally. He made his debut at BLAST Pro Series Los Angeles; at the tournament, the team beat the popular gaming organization FaZe Clan.

In April 2020, Tenz made a big announcement. He announced he would be switching to Valorant to play competitively over Counter-Strike with Cloud9. The announcement marked the first time Tenz spoke about his decision to switch from Counter-Strike to Valorant. At the time, he was the first player signed to Cloud9’s new Valorant squad.

“I decided to make this change because, after getting access to the closed beta, I’d been having a lot of fun playing VALORANT,” TenZ said in the video. “I just thought it’d be best if I changed games.”

Since joining the professional sphere, Tenz has seen success. In May 2020, just one month after he went pro, Tenz won his first Valorant tournament at Elite Esports Rivalry Bowl North America. In August 2020, Tenz finished third in the A-Tier tournament Pop Flash.

In early 2021, Tenz announced he would be stepping down from Cloud9’s Valorant team for an indefinite period of time. “As of right now and going forward, I’m going to be stepping down from the Cloud9 Blue team to pursue content creation,” the gamer announced on Twitter.

“Stepping down from the team is a personal choice of mine,” Tenz said. “I’m just going to be doing content creation until maybe COVID’s up and then I’ll kind of re-decide what I want to do when there’s LANs and stuff like that.”

Later, the gamer elaborated more on his decision to leave competitive gaming, saying that the pandemic and his mental health had a lot to do with it.

“COVID is probably one of the thing that’s making it hard for me to stay like a professional player online. Just because I play with 60 ping and everyone has sub 30 or sub 40,” Tenz explained. “When I was doing long streams for a little bit, my mental state is so much better; more than anything, I feel happy. When I see that the time is right, when I can jump back into competitive play, then I will.”
