A well monitoring system may comprise magnetic complexes disposed in a subterranean formation, wherein the magnetic complexes each comprise a first magnetic portion, a second magnetic portion, and a spacer portion; and an electromagnetic interrogator, wherein the electromagnetic interrogator comprises an electromagnetic source and an electromagnetic detector.
