Vasily Grigorievich Sakhnovsky (1886-1945) - Russian and Soviet theater director, theater critic, teacher; People's Artist of the RSFSR (1938), Doctor of Arts (1939)
In 1926, Vasily Sakhnovsky was invited to the Moscow Art TheaterMoscow Art Theater; in 1932 he became the deputy director of the theater for the artistic part, in 1937 - the head of the artistic part. In 1941-43. was repressed. Since 1943 he was a member of the art director's board of the Moscow Art Theater.
In 1922-1926 he was the artistic director of the Moscow Drama TheatreMoscow Drama Theatre, the Comedy Theater (formerly the Korsh Theatre). In 1923 he recreated the Theater. V. F. Komissarzhevskaya (the theater broke up in the 1925/26 season). In 1926, he made his only film, The Cross.
