Russian artist
Vladimir Dubossarsky is a contemporary Russian artist. Since 1994 he has been working in an art duet together with Alexander Vinogradov.
The work of the duet Dubossarsky-Vinogradov is distinguished by the use of traditional forms for painting within the framework of contemporary art. The artists work on the verge of kitsch and conceptualism, they paint large-scale paintings that at first glance seem to be a continuation of the tradition of Soviet realism, but at the same time they have a conceptual message. They took the language of realism, understandable to everyone. They opposed ourselves to conceptualism, which was in force where everything was very smart. In conceptualism, the subtext was more important than the text. In their case, the opposite is true - the context is not important, it is more important that the text is immediately clear.
