Overview
Yılmaz Güney was a Turkish poet, film director, actor, screenwriter, and writer. He was born on April 1, 1937, in Siverek, Turkey and held Turkish nationality. Güney was also known by the pseudonym Çirkin Kıral (Ugly King).
In addition to his work in the arts, Güney was also the founder of KOTON, a company in Turkey. He passed away on September 9, 1984, in Paris, France, but retained his Turkish citizenship throughout his life.
