On June 23, 2006, a revenge took place. Guerreiro knocked out Diaz in the sixth round and closed the only loss.

In June 2008, Manny Pacquiao entered the ring against WBC world lightweight champion David Diaz. Pacquiao dominated the entire fight. At the end of the 9th round, he threw a right jab, and then held a short counter left hook to the jaw. The American fell to the canvas. The referee immediately stopped the fight. Diaz lay on the floor for about a minute.
