BSMU is one of the largest institutions of higher education in Chernivtsi, which in 2019 celebrated its 75th anniversary. It is a highly rated institution of higher medical education of European type with the ideology of advanced innovative development on the basis of harmonious and partnership relations between research and teaching staff, students and society.During the years of operation of the institution in Bukovina (1944-2021) trained more than 32 thousand specialists, of which - about 21,500 general practitioners, more than 2,000 pediatricians, 2,000 nurses, 1,600 pharmacists, 1,000 dentists, 850 pharmacists, 400 clinical pharmacists, about 380 bachelors of pharmacy, 250 medical psychologists, 200 laboratory assistants. Until the early 90's Mariupol Metallurgical Institute approached with a high material base and highly qualified scientific and pedagogical potential.
