Prior to joining a16z in 2022, Jay was an investor at Maven Ventures, a seed-stage consumer software fund, where he led the firm's web3 investing. Before Maven, Jay worked in Goldman Sachs' Global Markets Division for two years. Prior to Goldman Sachs, Jay graduated from Amherst College, where he studied Political Science & Law, and was a member of the Men’s Track & Field team.

Jay is a proud Chicago native and currently lives in San Francisco. Outside of work, you can often find him playing basketball, running, cooking, playing the piano, or exploring new and high fashion brands. Claire Austin is an Event Marketing Manager at a16z crypto supporting experiential touchpoints for portfolio companies, internal teams, press/media and more. Prior to joining a16z crypto, she worked as an event producer in NY & LA supporting large-scale events including The Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic and Tribeca Film Festival, as well as programs with Nickelodeon, Bon Appétit and more. Claire enjoys traveling and spending time in nature.
