Finishing 3rd in the 2018/19 Russian Championship, the club qualified for the UEFA Champions League for the first time in its history, starting the season from the 3rd qualifying round against Porto of Portugal. In the first match on August 7, Krasnodar lost to Porto at their stadium 0:1, but a week later, on the road, the bulls managed to win with a score of 3:2 and, according to the away goal rule, go to the playoff round. In the playoff round, Krasnodar faced the Greek Olympiakos as rivals. In the first match in Greece, Krasnodar conceded four unanswered goals. In the home match, Krasnodar were the first to score a goal already in the 10th minute of the match, but quickly missed the return goal and eventually lost again (1:2), thus ending their performance in the Champions League. At the group stage of the Europa League, where Krasnodar continued to play in the 2019/20 Euroseason after being eliminated from the Champions League, the team scored three victories and lost three times. With such a result, Krasnodar took third place in the group without qualifying for the spring part of the tournament.
