Øystein Ore (born July 10, 1899, died August 13, 1968) was a Norwegian mathematician who held citizenship in Norway. Born and deceased in Oslo, Ore was educated at several institutions, including the University of Oslo, the University of Göttingen, and Oslo Cathedral School.
Ore had several notable works, including his research on harmonic divisor numbers, Ore condition, Ore's theorem, and Ore extension. He worked under his doctoral advisor Thoralf Skolem and during his academic career, mentored numerous doctoral students, including Grace Hopper, Jon Sanders, Melvin Dresher, Marshall Hall (mathematician), Bruce Erickson, Bruce Lee Rothschild, and Howard Engstrom.
