The University of Oslo, also known as Universitetet i Oslo, is a public educational institute located in Oslo, Norway. It was founded in 1811 by Frederick VI of Denmark and operates in the education, higher education, and university industries. The university is accredited by both the Norwegian Agency for Quality Assurance in Education and the Ministry of Education and Research, Norway. Additionally, it is a member of the European University Association.
The University of Oslo has several subsidiaries, including the University of Oslo Library, the University of Oslo Faculty of Law, and the University of Oslo Faculty of Medicine. Furthermore, the university has spun out a company called NOVELDA.
