Daniel Hernandez (eng. Daniel Hernandez b. May 8, 1996, Bushwick, Brooklyn, USA), known under the pseudonym 6ix9ine (Russian Sixnine), as well as Tekashi69 is an American rapper. His musical creativity is characterized by an aggressive style of rap reading, and a contradictory image — rainbow hair, lots of tattoos, conflicts with famous personalities and problems with the law.
Born in Brooklyn, Daniel Hernandez became widely known after the release of his debut single "Gummo". The song became a national hit, reaching number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and achieving further commercial success after receiving platinum certification by the RIAA. Daniel continued to make music, and his next release, released a year later, was the mixtape en:Day69, containing three additional singles that hit the Hot 100 chart, while the mixtape itself took fourth place in the Billboard 200 music chart.[1]
A few months later, his single Fefe, recorded together with rap artist Nicki Minaj and produced by Murda Beatz, will take third place on the Hot 100 chart and will become the leading song of the debut album "Dummy boy" (2018).[2][3] Despite the fact that the album was received very critically and negatively, it reached number two on the Billboard 200 chart.[4][5]
The public image and problems with Hernandez's law have attracted media attention.[6]He is a source of controversy for running social networks and conflicts with famous people. In 2015, he pleaded guilty to a number of criminal offenses related to sexual activity with children, for which he received a four-year executive term and 1,000 hours of community service. In 2018, Hernandez was arrested for blackmail, weapons and drug charges. In 2019, he pleaded guilty. The rapper was sentenced to 2 years in prison.[7]
