Formerly known as Greylock Israel, the venture capital firm was founded on June 30th, 2006. It was originally an affiliate of Greylock Partners, the U.S-based venture capital firm, until 2015, when the firm separated from Greylock Partners and changed its name into 83North. The four previous Greylock Israel partners, Laurel Bowden, Arnon Dinur, Gil Goren, Erez Ofer, and Yoram Snir, led the new firm from two main offices: London, United Kingdom and Tel Aviv, Israel.
Since 2006, they have managed to raise a total fund of $822.3 million. As Greylock Israel, their first and second funding round, which occurred in June 2006 and March 2011 respectively, generated $364.3 million in total. As 83North, their third funding round took place in January 2015, garnering $204 million. Their last funding series, which was held in April 2017, managed to amass $254 million. They offer funding for various development stages, from seed stage to revenue growth stage.
By January 2019, the firm has invested their funds in 45 start-up companies operating in diverse fields, from financial technology to virtual and augmented reality. They have financed companies that are based in Europe and Israel, though they also have companies in their portfolio that have operation branches in the U.S.
