A. R. Rahman (Allah Rakha Rahman) was born as A. S. Dileep Kumar on January 6, 1966, in Tamil Nadu, India. He is an Indian composer, actor, musician, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, songwriter, music director, and film producer. Rahman has also worked as a film director, entrepreneur, and singer. He is a citizen of India and primarily works in the music, film, and entertainment industries.
Rahman's father, R. K. Shekhar, was also a composer. He studied at M. C. C. Higher Secondary School and Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.
