Low cost rapid fabrication process of HY-80/HY-100 alloy experimental pressure vessel is needed to replace current conventional fabrication process with equal or improved high temperature strength and corrosion resistance. Low cost, rapid fabrication of this porosity free pressure vessel can be done by Additive Manufacturing (AM) process using APS engineered HY-80 and HY-100 alloy steel powder. By AM each layer is melted to the exact geometry defined by a 3D CAD model and the same part could be fabricated within hours.So in this Navy SBIR Phase I program will fabricate HY-80/HY-100 steel alloy experimental pressure vessel by Additive Manufacturing and subsequent heat treatment using APS developed AM machines compatible engineered HY-80 and HY-100 alloy powders with high temperature strength, corrosion resistant properties. This program will reduce the time and cost required to get part for Navy. Phase II will continue to fabricate more specific experimental pressure vehicle components/ Automatic Control/Instrumentation for Navy.
