AgriMetis is a privately held biotechnology company based in Lutherville, Maryland. It focuses on discovering, developing, and delivering innovative crop protection products. The company is a spin-off from healthcare innovation firm, Acidophil.
The company's approach to crop protection is by focusing on 'natural products' and developing active, pest-deterring ingredients from them by combining biology, synthetic biology, and chemistry. It's pipeline includes a herbicide and an insecticide, which are in development. AgriMetis does not sell the products itself, but licenses the technology to large chemical retailers to manufacture and distribute.
In March 2018, AgriMetis and the Monsanto Company announced a collaboration for the former's SpinoMetis platform. The agreement includes an exclusive global license from AgriMetis to Monsanto for research in row, vegetable, and other crops for a three-year period, as well as an option for Monsanto to acquire exclusive commercial rights at the end of the term.
