Music historian, field collector, producer and filmmaker
Alan Lomax (born January 31, 1915) was a person of many talents, including anthropologist, musician, historian, photographer, journalist, and film director. He was born in Austin, Texas, and held citizenship in the United States.
Lomax received his education at several institutions. He studied at Harvard University, Columbia University, St. Mark's School of Texas, and Choate Rosemary Hall. He was the child of John Lomax.
Alan Lomax's work earned him recognition and awards, such as the Grammy Award for Best Album Notes and the Grammy Trustees Award. He passed away on July 19, 2002, in Safety Harbor, Florida.
