Albrecht Kossel (born September 16, 1853) was a German chemist, physician, biochemist, and physiologist. He was born in Rostock, Germany. Kossel received his education at the University of Rostock and the University of Strasbourg. Throughout his career, Albrecht Kossel made significant contributions to the study of nucleic acids, which later led to the awarding of the 1910 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.
Felix Hoppe-Seyler was Kossel's doctoral advisor. Kossel contributed to the education of Otto Folin, one of his doctoral students. Albrecht Kossel was the son of Albrecht Kossel and father of Walther Kossel.
Kossel passed away on July 5, 1927, in Heidelberg. His nationality was German, and his academic discipline was the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.
