Alex Chriss is the CEO and president of PayPal.
From 1995 to 1999, Chriss attended Tufts University and earned a bachelor of arts degree in economics.
Chriss worked for Intuit from 2004 to 2023, holding multiple positions during his time there. He began working as a group manager, leading the business development and channel sales group for Intuit's QuickBase business unit. In July 2008, he was put in charge of Intuit's partner platform, first as its business leader and later as its director in August 2009. In August 2013, Chriss became the vice president and general manager of the self-employed segment of Intuit's small business division. He was promoted to senior vice president and chief product officer of the same division in January 2017. In this role, he was directly responsible for all segments of the QuickBooks global platform. Chriss was promoted again within the same division in January 2019, this time to executive vice president. He remained at this position until September 2023. During his time in that role, Chriss grew Intuit's customers and revenues at a compound annual growth rate of 20 and 23 percent, respectively.
On August 14, 2023, Chriss was appointed PayPal's CEO and president. The change was set to take effect on September 27, 2023. He also joined PayPal's board of directors on that date. Chriss replaced Dan Schulman as CEO.
