Alexa is Amazon's voice AI, an interactive voice assistant with a range of functionality that is available on many Amazon devices.
Amazon Alexa was born in Cambridge, at the Center for British Computer Science. In the 1980s, student William Tunstall-Pedoe dreamed of inventing a computer with unlimited knowledge. He spent time in the Cambridge University library among the stacks of books and thought that these books contained all the knowledge accumulated by mankind and were under lock and key. To find the right book, you had to first know that it existed, and then you had to fill out a form and wait for the librarian to find it. William began to ponder how to create a device that would answer any question you had, like in fantasy movies. Tunstall-Pedoe wrote a program that understands speech and can answer questions with algorithms. In 2012, he brought his Evi to attention. Two years later, Evi bought Amazon and renamed it Alexa. This is how the world's most famous artificial intelligence device was born.
