Alexander Dzasokhov (born April 3, 1934 in Vladikavkaz) is a Russian and Soviet Union statesman, politician, diplomat, and party leader. He is best known for his roles as the President of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania from 1998-2005 and First Secretary of the North Ossetian Regional Committee of the CPSU from 1988-1990.
Dzasokhov has been awarded multiple orders and medals throughout his career. Some of his awards include the Medal "In memory of the 1000th anniversary of Kazan", Medal "In memory of the 850th anniversary of Moscow", Order of Friendship, Russian Federation Presidential Certificate of Honour, Dostlug Order, Order of Merit for the Fatherland (2nd and 3rd class), Order of Honor, Order of the October Revolution, Order of Friendship of Peoples, and the Order of the Red Banner of Labour.
Dzasokhov holds Russian nationality and was also a citizen of the Soviet Union.
