Alfred Hershey, also known as Alfred Day Hershey, was born on December 4, 1908, in Shiawassee County, Michigan. He was a citizen of the United States and was educated at Michigan State University. Hershey's occupations included chemist, geneticist, and microbiologist. He received the 1969 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his contributions to the field of genetics. Alfred Hershey passed away on May 22, 1997, in Nassau County, New York.
