French physicist
Alfred Kastler was a French physicist and poet, born on May 3, 1902, in Guebwiller, France. He is best known for being awarded the 1966 Nobel Prize in Physics. Kastler passed away on January 7, 1984, in Bandol, France.
Kastler pursued his education at the University of Paris. He had a son named Daniel Kastler and was also the doctoral advisor to Claude Cohen-Tannoudji, another physicist. Although primarily known for his accomplishments in the field of physics, Kastler also had an interest in poetry.
