Allen Lane

Allen Lane (1902-1970) was a British publisher, born in Bristol and educated at Bristol Grammar School. He is best known as the founder of Penguin Books. Lane founded the publishing company, now known as Penguin Group, in 1935. Throughout his career, Lane's occupation was primarily focused on publishing.

Allen Lane was a citizen of the United Kingdom. He had a daughter named Clare Morpurgo, and was related to John Lane, another well-known publisher. Lane passed away in the London Borough of Hillingdon on July 7, 1970.
