Ambassador is an American company and social referral marketing platform which enables companies to create, track, and manage customer referrals.
Jeff Epstein founded Ambassador as Zferral in 2009. The company was one of twelve companies selected from a pool of 1,200 applicants to be part of the New York City program of American startup accelerator Techstars in 2011.
Jonathon Triest of Detroit-based Ludlow Ventures was the first investor in the initial $400,000 seed round.
In January 2011, Zferral bought SaaS web app store Cloudomatic for cash and equity. In June 2015, Ambassador announced that it had raised $2.35 million in Series A funding. The Series A was led by Arthur Ventures, with additional investment from Zelkova Ventures, Ludlow Ventures, Social Starts and Matchstick Ventures.
Companies that use Ambassador's referral platform include PayPal, Spotify, HughesNet, Progresso, Reliant Energy and the American Marketing Association.
