Andrei Tarkovsky was born on April 4, 1932, in Kudrovo, and held Russian nationality . He was a film director, actor, screenwriter, theatre director, and filmmaker. Tarkovsky also had experience in film editing. He received education at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography. His father was Arseny Tarkovsky.
During his career, Tarkovsky directed multiple notable works, including "Ivan's Childhood", "Andrei Rublev", "Nostalghia", "Stalker" , "The Sacrifice", "Solaris", and "Mirror". He authored the screenplay for "Mirror" and "The Steamroller and the Violin".
Tarkovsky was married to Irma Raush, and he was a child of Arseny Tarkovsky. He received numerous awards throughout his career, such as those from the Cannes Film Festival, Golden Lion, San Francisco International Film Festival, Jussi Awards, David di Donatello Awards, BAFTA Award, and Lenin Prize.
Andrei Tarkovsky passed away in Paris on December 29, 1986, at the age of 54.
