Andrew Chung is a technology investor and entrepreneur and the founder of venture capital company 1955 Capital—an organization dedicated to investing in technology from both the Americas and Europe, which can help address issues facing places like China, India and other countries in the developing world.He named the company after the year in which technology influencers Vinod Khosla, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Eric Schmidt were born. His stated goals for the company are “to solve the developing world’s greatest challenges” on the principle that “developing countries have survival-driven demands that can accelerate tech commercialization.” Chung has focused on investments promoting "climate tech" and "clean tech." Chung has worked on the global expansion of meatless burger maker Impossible Foods, egg-less mayonnaise manufacturer Hampton Creek, and biotech startup BioConsortia.
Prior to his involvement with 1955 Capital, he was a general partner at venture capital firm Khosla Ventures.
Chung has advised federal and state government officials on critical energy policy and has spoken on the topics of sustainable technology and U.S.-China collaboration at the White House, Swiss Economic Forum, Asian Venture Capital Journal Forum, Cleantech Venture Forum, Economist Innovation Summit, and Cleantech Investment World Asia.
