Andrew Spinks, also known as Redigit, is an Indie game designer born November 12, 1983, in Idaho. He is the CEO of the game studio Re-Logic and the primary developer of the action-adventure game Terraria. Before Terraria, he was the lead developer of Super Mario Bros.X in 2009.
The name "Redigit" comes from Spinks's misunderstanding of the term on the TV show The Simpsons, where Bart Simpson refers to a Remington gun. Spinks began developing Terraria in January 2011, and it was released in May 2011. In October 2013, Spinks announced that he was planning a Terraria sequel.
In February 2012, he announced quitting the development of Terraria, then hinted at a return to the game in January 2013. During the early stages of Terraria's 1.3 development, Spinks previously moved on to look into coding languages for his next project. He later continued working on Terraria till the completion of the update.
