Andy Griffith, born Andy Samuel Griffith on June 1, 1926, in Mount Airy, North Carolina, was an American musician, singer-songwriter, actor, writer, film producer, screenwriter, teacher, and television producer. He was educated at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Mount Airy High School. Griffith's music genres included Southern gospel, country music, traditional pop music, vocal music, religious music, and spoken word.
Griffith had U.S. citizenship and passed away on July 3, 2012, in Manteo, North Carolina.
Throughout his career, Griffith received several awards and honors, including the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Theatre World Award.
